"I can feel the sailors," Charles whispered, as they hovered outside the sub's hull in a stolen helicopter. "They're scared. They're just boys. They don't want this war."

Charles had a different vision. He had grown up in a mansion, not a camp. His pain was subtler: the loneliness of being the smartest person in every room, the ache of a stepfather who called his powers a "phase." When he found Erik, he saw a brother. When he found Raven, his blue-skinned, shape-shifting foster sister, he saw a soul as fractured as his own. X-men- First Class
"He will never stop," Erik said, tears freezing on his cheeks in the cold wind. "This is the only way."
Erik wanted to sink it. Charles wanted to stop Shaw. "I can feel the sailors," Charles whispered, as
"Boys become men who fire missiles," Erik replied, his voice cold as the deep ocean. He tore the helicopter's door off its hinges and dove into the water.
In that silence, the war began.
"No! There is always another way!"
