This paper outlines the history of the series, explains its unique “cycle” structure, and provides a definitive reading order for the main series, the essential Silver Edition reprints, and the major side series. 1. Introduction Created by K. H. Scheer and Walter Ernsting, Perry Rhodan chronicles the adventures of an American astronaut who, in 1971, becomes the guardian of humanity following a mysterious encounter on the Moon. Unlike episodic space operas, Perry Rhodan operates in real-time, with characters aging and the galactic political landscape constantly shifting.
