(softly, into phone) “Marcus. My name is Patience. I’m not here to talk you down. I’m here to sit with you.”

(whispering, into the void) “...they’re still screaming.” Act Three: The Fracture Scene 3: Flashback – Fallujah, 2006 Grainy, desaturated visuals. A younger Marcus Thorne drags a wounded soldier through dust and gunfire. An explosion. Then silence. He looks down. The soldier’s face is gone. Thorne screams—but there is no sound. Tinnitus rings.

“I know. I’ve had screams follow me too. But those children behind you? They’re not soldiers. They’re not your past. They’re just kids who want to go home.”
