Legacy Island III is a custom world created by community member Matty (aka Rflong7) , designed specifically for the Legacy Challenge in The Sims 3 . Unlike EA’s official worlds, it prioritizes open-space planning, routing efficiency, and lot diversity. This paper evaluates Legacy Island III’s strengths and weaknesses, focusing on stability, aesthetic cohesion, and long-term gameplay viability.

Matty used CAW (Create a World) and Routable Tuning to minimize stuck sims. In testing with 20–25 resident sims over 10 sim-weeks, only 3 minor routing failures occurred (two near steep cliffs, one by a custom bridge). Load times average 1.5–2 minutes on a mid-range PC with all EPs, significantly better than large worlds like Legacy Island II or Setra . The world uses no excessive decorative flora, preserving frame rates during seasonal changes.

Here’s a short academic-style paper analyzing for The Sims 3 , focusing on its design, performance, and suitability for the Legacy Challenge. Title: Legacy Island III: A Technical and Aesthetic Evaluation for Optimal Legacy Gameplay in The Sims 3

Legacy Island III employs a naturalistic, temperate biome with rolling hills, a central river, and distinct neighborhoods (rural, suburban, and small downtown). The terrain painting blends base-game and EP textures (e.g., Seasons , Pets , Generations ), avoiding overly bright or oversaturated colors. Key landmarks include a fishing pier, public garden, and a modest beach area. While not as architecturally dramatic as Aurora Skies , the world avoids the empty expanses common in many custom worlds.
