1. Introduction The Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) standard EIA-310-D, titled "Cabinet, Racks, Panels, and Associated Equipment," is the definitive North American standard for the mechanical dimensions of equipment racks and the mounting interfaces within them. First published in 1992 (revising earlier versions 310, 310-A, 310-B, and 310-C), it ensures interoperability between equipment from different manufacturers. While officially withdrawn by the EIA in 2013, it remains the de facto global standard for 19-inch racks.
