The climax begins when Hardy, now physically collapsing from his heart condition, refuses to be taken to the hospital. He has one name. He calls Ellie to the police station. In a room, away from others, he tells her: "We have a match on the phone. The second phone, the one Danny was texting. The owner was at the lock-up at the time of Danny’s death. The owner bought the rope. The owner is the last person to have touched Danny Latimer." Pause. "We’ve arrested your husband, Ellie. Joe did this." Ellie collapses in disbelief.
