The protagonist, , was once a legendary hero who defeated a great evil. However, after a catastrophic event called "The Great Erasure," all records, statues, and memories of him are systematically wiped from history. His name is forbidden. His deeds are attributed to others. His lover, his king, and his comrades no longer recognize him.

He uses his power to reverse his greatest victory – which accidentally caused a worse disaster later. But each reversal costs him a sense (sight, then voice, then emotion).
